Grand Isle Fishing in Louisiana
Grand Isle Fishing is great. After oil and gas, Grand Isle's economy is fishing, commercial and recreational. The thought that the storms wiped out nearshore species such as speckled trout, redfish, flounder and sheepshead - shrimp, crabs and oysters, too - was too much to bear. "This place is the best, because it allows access for everybody," Terry St. Cyr said. "Look at the people who come here just to catch a few crabs. When it's calm in front of the island, you can catch Trout, Redfish, Crabs and Shrimp during the summer. "When winter comes, you have all the canals off the bays and then there's the deep-sea fishing that goes on all year. Think about the numbers of species of fish you can catch here, and how many fish are caught here, and other people around the United States don't believe that kind of fishing exists in their country.
Gran Isle Louisiana Red Drum Fishing (Red fishing)
We fish for a few different species here in Sportsman's Paradise. We have the Red
Drum and the Black Drum. Which are know as a Redfish. The Redfish is very distinctive
it is red or bronze in color and have a black spot on the tail. Some even come
with more black spots on them that give them a little more of a trophy look to
the angler.
Grand Isle Louisiana Black Drum FishingThe black drum is black
and silver in color. They have black lines along their body which run up and down.
They both live in the same waters and eat the same food small crabs, minnows, shrimp,
grass snails. The Red fish is a excellent meal fixed which we call on the half
shell and put on the grill. We catch these fish year round and give a angler the
fight of there life. Grand Isle Louisiana Sea Trout Fishing (Speckled Trout)Another
fish we have here in Sportsman's Paradise is the Sea Trout which is known as the
Speckle Trout. These fish are a very great tasting fish. They run from a 1 LB
to 9lbs here in our area. We catch these fish in various ways from artificial
lures like top water, plastic grubs, & flies. Also we use live bait during
the summer months like live shrimp, live pogies, & live croakers. The months best
for this fish are end of April till July. Then again for the winter from Nov.
to Feb. An we also catch a few numbers of Flounders also while on these trip.
These fish are excellent stuffed with crab meat and baked in the oven or on the
grill.
